Lesson Plan Database

There are several types of lesson plans presented here. Some are cross-curricular, while others emphasize a particular content area or a specific skill. In addition, while many of these lessons are presented with much detail, other lessons provide only an outline or a link to a lesson plan found elsewhere.

Tips for Searching the Database

  • The fewer boxes you check to limit your search, the more "hits" you will get.
  • If you do not check any boxes, you will get the entire database of lesson plans submitted.
  • Search the Database

Tips for Creating a Lesson Plan to Submit to the Database

  • You are encouraged to submit a full lesson plan that integrates across content areas. An important aspect of critical thinking is seeing connections. The more indepth the study, the easier it is for students to learn and remember the information.
  • You may want to use the "Anchor Points in History" concept. Choose an important time period,( e.g., the Crusades, the Civil War, the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, etc). Make connections to what was happening in the world of science and medicine at this time. What works of literature were written during or about this time period?
  • Your lesson plan may be more specific in scope, focusing on a specific content area, skill, or learning strategy.
  • If possible, provide Internet links to extend your lesson.
  • Your lesson plan may be a review of a lesson plan that you found on the Internet.
